The AG Memorial Van Damme is an athletics meetings of the highest level which is part of the IAAF Diamond League. The first “Memorial” took place in 1977 and quickly achieved international recognition.
In 1985 the meeting became an IAAF Grand Prix meeting, afterwards a meeting in the Golden Four and Golden League series. The Memorial was ahead of the pack in the way athletics events were organized. It was the first athletics meeting to introduce fireworks, drums, a dynamic presentation and much more.
Since 2009 the Memorial is part of the IAAF Diamond League, a yearly series of athletics meetings which take place in 14 cities over the world. The Memorial is one of two final events in the IAAF Diamond League and marks the end of the season.
The 42th edition of the Memorial will take place on 31 August 2018 in the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels where Courtney will race the 3k Steeplechase.

What is the Diamond League Final?
The top 8 (100m, 100/110m Hurdles and technical events except HJ/PV) or top 12 Athletes (middle/long distance and HJ/PV) over the course of the regular season will be awarded a start at the Final. In the 200m, 400m and 400m Hurdles, the top 7 athletes qualify for the final. In case of a tie, the best legal performance of the qualification phase wins.
The winner at the Final of each Diamond Discipline will become "IAAF Diamond League Champion" and be awarded a Diamond Trophy.
